Mathewlo-2008_11_07-14_54.demoEXPERTISE DEMO

We chose Jenga as our concept game and chose to concentrate on the survival aspect of the game. The map consists of three levels each with an obstacle to reach the top which is your final destination and freedom. The first level involves climbing on movable blocks to reach the top of the level before it completely fills with water.Once reaching the second level you must press the trigger to collapse the Jenga tower (which is a spectacular sight) to create a pathfrom which you must navigate through to reach the third level. The third level consists of eight elevators but only one of them reaches your destination which covers the decison making aspect of Jenga. When you reach the top walk around the statue and WIN THE GAME!!!

The 363 George street building explosions were types of explosions that was channelled, manipulated, restricted and controlled. This type of explosion, is an explosion controlled by man and directed by man. The controlling of explosive power is reminiscient of modern day nuclear weapons, where the use of the power is negative. However the explosive power can be channelled to be benificial to mankind. The prime example of this is notion can be seen in our motor engines. Inside the engine is a combustion chamber, this explosion is controlled then channelled by pipes and valves, which eventually moves the pistons with the initial explosions pressure.

My 50% lofting of 363 Geroge street is conveying the same type of idea, where pipes, paths, holes and valves, direct the explosion's path and release the power in a structured form. We can determine the explosions path and origin and see how it can move within a maze of elevator shafts, corridors and rooms.

The 25% exploded building shows the force of the explosion affecting a building without the suitable directions and channelling of explosive power. The force will go through the internal structure of the building in an unpredictable and destructive way, causing chaotic destruction.Where the power is released externally is mainly through the windows of the building, thus these areas had greater damage. The two videos, juxtaposes each other for the viewer the experience the same explosive force, in two different forms.

The third video of the unexploded 363 George street, is cross sectioned just infront of the lifts, to show the rooms in which the explosive power will eventually escape to. The lifts are the obvious route for the explosion, but the limitation in escaping the few vertical shafts are not realised. With few escape routes, the pressure builds and a more devastating power is unleashed.

in the 3d field, the explosion created was to analyse how controlled explosions affect its surroundings and if the structure is able to withstand and control the destructive nature of the blast. The way the explosion sends projectiles may differ because in this scenario we attempt to supress and harness the power and the forced created by the explosion. In modern society, explosive power is commonly seen as a destructive force. It's relations to chaos, destruction and war/terrorism is inevitable, however by looking at an attempt to stop the explosion, we see how it can be harness or controlled.

Hypothesis - By looking at how explosions react to containment and supression, we can start relate explosive power to other forms other that destruction and chaos.

halo3 machinima explosion

Chain reations is one type of explosions that are unpredictable and cause a type of domino effect. The effect of one explosion affecting another object and then causing that object to also combust has a kind of off beat rhythm and holds the audience in a moment of anticipation. there is an aesthetic value but what is more notable is the way each single component will eventually affect every other single explosive. The first explosion will affect/change the time, direction, damage, angles and area of the last explosion. There is a direct relationship between all the objects and how they will explode.
